Today was not an average day in Vault 101, alarms bared through the halls of the Vault. People were accused of conspiring against the Vault, the security officers were seeking several people including Hunter Sætre, and Alexandra Gustavson. Luckily the two lived relatively close to one and other, and would hopefully be able to escape together.
Alex awoke to her parents arguing, but that wasn't totally unusual for her to awake to. She put the pillow over her head and tried to sleep more rather than hear her mother and father scream at each other. She sighed as she realised it was an impossible feat, and stood slowly, rubbing her eyes as she did. She walked to her dresser and slowly got her pants on as she heard her door open. She covered herself and asked "A little privacy?" before her eyes went wide seeing her mother clutching a 10 mm pistol with a drunk and dangerous look in her eye. Her mother put a bottle of vodka to her lips and downed a large sip before saying "The overseer wants to see you, isn't that interesting? If you come with me now I won't have to hurt you." she accidently fired a shot into the wall next to her head. Alex started shaking in fear as her hand gripped the laser pistol she kept in her dresser. Before either side made a move however, her father tackled her mother, and a shot fired into Alex's leg. Alex grabbed a top, a backpack, and her baseball bat before running into the living room. She opened the medical cabinet and grabbed everything inside. She injected Med-X into her leg and ran into the hall just in time to hear two gunshots from her room.

Hunter had been awake for a while, just hanging out in his room. He heard the alarms, but thought it was probably some Radroach attack or something. His mom seemed on edge, however, and was sitting in the living room with a rifle in her lap. He wasn't even sure where she got the rifle from. He had asked her what she was worried about, but she had just told him that it was just in case. He told himself she meant just in case a Radroach got in or something, and went in to his room to read one of his Grognak comic books. It had a few missing pages, but he didn't mind. He could just imagine what happened between the pages.
He was just about to finish one, when he heard the door to their room open, and his mother saying,"You will not take my son," and then a shot firing. He jumped up, hearing a slight curse from a male voice that he recognized as one of the Vault Security. He looked through the door to the Living Room in time to see his mom aim her rifle for another shot, muttering something about not losing another son, and was just about to shoot when the remaining Security guard shot her. She fell over backwards, dropping her rifle. "Mom!" He gasped, then froze. The Security guard was looking at him now. "The Overseer wants to see you," He said, sounding slightly regretting. Hunter's eyes narrowed, and he charged the security guard. The guard let out what sounded like a squeak, and fired a shot at Hunter. Hunter rolled just in time, dodging the shot, much to his surprise. It was just instinctual. He came back to his feet just in time to plow the security guard over. They both sprawled ungracefully to the floor. Hunter recovered quicker then the guard, and quickly grabbed the guard his mother had shot's gun, and quickly shot the surviving guard in the head, right before the guard shot him. He did it all in an adrenaline-fueled panic, and was shocked by what he had done. He scrambled over to his mom, but she was already dead. He decided he would mourn later, and darted in to his mother's room and grabbed the Ripper that she kept there. He was never sure where she got it from, but he didn't care. He put the guard's gun in his pocket, and slowly headed out of the room. He saw Alex shortly later. "Hey, Alexandra!" He said in an urgent whisper. Normally he would assume she was working for the Overseer, but she kind of seemed awful freaked out to be. He wondered if maybe she would know what was going on.

Alex spun around, aiming her laser pistol at Hunter for a split second before lowering it. She knew of all the people in the Vault that Hunter would be the least likely to support the overseer. She looked at him and said "My m-mom, she tried to shoot me." she was quite distressed about the whole thing, which made a lot of sense. Her mother appeared in the doorway and leveled her pistol at the both of them "You little bitch, how dare you, get over here right now. If you don't I will blow both you and your boyfriend's brains out." Alex dropped her laser pistol, and put her hands up as she heard more security guards coming toward them. She hesitantly asked "What h-h-happened to dad?" her mom smirked a little and said "I'm pretty sure he is dead, I shot him twice in the chest after all." Alex looked horrified and tears began rolling down her face.

Hunter raised his hands slightly when Alex pointed her gun at him, then lowered them when she lowered her gun. He looked at her leg, then said,"It looks like she more then tried...They killed my mom," His voice faltered ever so slightly. "Do you know what's going on here?" He asked, but then figured that maybe the questions should wait 'till later. When her mom came out with the gun and said that she was going to blow their brains out, or at least he assumed she wrongly meant him when she said 'boyfriend', he quickly raised his gun and fired a shot at her, then said to Alex,"Run, we need to get out of here,"while giving her a little shove.

Alex grabbed her pistol and ran "I have no idea what is going on. According to my reports some people tried to leave the vault. They must think we had something to do with that." she was limping badly and said "We have to get out of the vault." a security officer raised a gun at them but was attacked by roaches, so he was pretty much useless. Alex lead the way, knowing the vault well, and knowing who could be trusted and who couldn't be. As they neared the entrance she spotted two guys with guns guarding the main door to the Vault entrance and said "Wait, the overseer, his office, it should have an evacuation route. I remember he showed me when discussing my duties as a Loyalty Inspector."

"Why would they think that? I was sleeping when it started," Hunter shook his head,"If you weren't as loyal to him, I would think it was just a way to get rid of the less loyal people. I always knew there was something wrong with him." He figured it was fine to talk against the Overseer now, seeing as they were both being chased down because of it. He flinched when the officer pointed a gun at them, but was relieved for once to see a bunch of Radroaches. "I think this is the only time I will ever be happy to see Radroaches," He said, following her. He cursed under his breath when he saw the guards. "The Overseer's office?" He asked, sounding kind of disbelieving, and suddenly faintly suspicious. "Won't that just be like, handing ourselves over to him? I guess if he's there we need to try to lure him out..."

"I have no idea, that was just my best guess. I was thinking of it too." Alex seemed to have a moment of genius "Remember, when we learned about Stalin, from Russia? He killed everyone who was a threat to him. Maybe the overseer is doing the same. Think about it, you have people who trust you with their issues, and I know all the inner workings of the Vault political system. I know secrets that are dangerous to the vault. He could be framing us to eliminate any threats to his power." it was clear by her face despite what had happened it pained her to speak of their glorious leader like that. She had been fairly good friends with his daughter, and had often stayed the night with them when her mother and father fought with each other. She smiled slightly at his comment about roaches "I fully agree." she shook her head to the idea they would just be handing themselves over "We won't be, besides, I'm more scared of two men with 10 mm Sub machine guns then I am of our old frail overseer. Besides, I have to know if his daughter, Amada is alright."

Hunter kind of looked at her blankly for a bit, then said,"Oh yeah, Stalin. I do remember that." He was kind of the type of person who was smart, but wasn't the best at remembering some stuff. "Maybe," He said,"I guess he doesn't trust anyone, if that's the case. I mean, if he doesn't trust you of all people he must not trust anyone else, either." He appeared to have no issues with talking bad about the Overseer. It was basically like he was just letting out the things he had thought all along. He liked Amada, and wondered how she could be so different from him. "Good point," He said, nodding. "That sounds good. Amada is a good person, I would hate to see her hurt just because she knows us. Lead the way."

Alex sighed, thinking of all the good times she had shared with the overseer. She remembered her 10th birthday when he first gave her a pip boy, the time she had dived onto a grenade that later turned out to be a dud, and finally when he appointed her the Vault Loyalty Inspector, her life dream. She then told him "I'm shocked he trusts his security force at this point." as they rushed through the corridor they would hear more gunshots from around the vault. She looked around, seeing no one in server room, nor the interrogation room like in the game. Alex opened the door the the overseer office and saw no one inside so she rushed in, and ran to the terminal "Before you ask, as Vault Loyalty Inspector my keycard opens any door or computer terminal in the Vault. Hm, maybe that's why he put me on the hitlist."

"I wonder why he does," Hunter replied, in response to her saying she was surprised he trusted his own security. He gripped his gun tighter when he heard the gunshots, though he wasn't all that in to shooting more people he had spend his whole life growing up with. Once they were in the Overseer's office, he looked around. "I wasn't going to ask, but whatever," He said, looking around for Amada. "Amada? You in here?" he asked, wondering if she was hiding somewhere. He hoped she wouldn't get hurt because of them. He kind of doubted the Overseer would hurt his own daughter, but he wasn't sure of his sanity at this point.

Alex tapped away on the keyboard in the office of the Overseer, she paused when he called out Amada, but upon hearing no response she went back to tapping away. She chuckled "How predictable, his password is Amada." she then hit a key hard and the desk rose up, revealing a small staircase that lead to the hallway that lead to the door. She rushed him in "Hurry, I don't know how long we have." once they were in she hit a small box and it lowered the desk to make things seem normal. She lead him to the door of the vault, and pulled the realise for the door, praying that the rads had gone down outside as the door screeched open.

He was now convinced that Amada wasn't here. He was sure she wouldn't hide from them, no matter what her father had told her they had done, he was sure she would know better. He just hoped she was OK, and that he hadn't hurt her....Apparently he hoped that way more often the necessary. He shook his head slightly, and his eyebrows went up slightly when the desk rose up, then hurried in. He followed her to the Vault door, seeming to get kind of nervous. "I wonder what it's like out there..." He said, flinching slightly at the screeching of the door. Once it was open, it was his turn to usher her out the door. Once they were through it, he said,"I don't know how to close it from this side...." He was intrigued by the light coming from up ahead in the tunnel. He had never seen sunlight before, and wondered what it was like.

Alex kinda pushed Hunter out of the way and pulled the proper thing on the control panel. She sighed and said "Goodbye, Vault One Zero One." seeming understandably sad about leaving. She readied her laser pistol and said "Lets go, and pray we aren't killed the moment we leave." she walked forward toward the entrance, throwing open the wooden door. She cried out and dropped her pistol in her haste to cover her eyes "Oh fuck, its so bright out here, my eyes!" she sounded like she was just stabbed in the eyes or something, which probably wouldn't be a bad description of the pain she felt looking into sunlight for the first time.

Hunter let out a little grunt of protest when she pushed him out of the way, but other then that, he didn't do or say anything else. He frowned back at the Vault, also seeming sad about leaving, specially when he had heard stories about how dangerous the Wasteland was. He nodded, making sure his gun was fully loading, while keeping his hand on his Ripper, too. When she threw open the crappy wooden door, he also covered his eyes, but managed not to drop his gun. "Ah! I'd heard of sunlight from stories, but I'd thought it'd be more like the lights in the vault," He said, slowly uncovering his eyes so that he could get used to the light. Once he could actually see, he blinked a few times, still squinting. He then looked around, marveling at the sky, and even marveling at the barren wasteland around them. He had only ever heard about a place like this.

Alex slowly uncovered her eyes and said "I thought that the outside would be darker and cleaner." she kicked the dirt and said "Ew, why is there so much dirt?" seeming to despise the fact the dirt is, well, dirt. She looked at her Pip Boy, slowly flipping through the different screens and informing him "Lets see, low level but not harmful radiation, that's good. Several radio stations, Enclave, some distress signals." she slowly leaned over and picked up her laser pistol "What now Hunter?"
