PROLOUGE
Most people don't notice it, narrow-minded as they are, but there are mysteries beyond their beliefs, right under their noses. In fact, it's all around us, surounding us, completely invisible. Worlds, entertwined so closely together that the barrier between them is invisible. I am the guardian of these worlds, with the ability to travel between them at will. Mostly I bid my time moving from one place to another, fighting as a vigilante when it suits me, but sometime, very occasionally, world-threatening problems crop up, and it's my job to deal with them. Mostly it's just to save one world, and normal people ever knows I was there, or that it happened, but sometimes, all the worlds are at risk. This is my story, a glipse at the worlds.
CHAPTER ONE
I stood on top of the tallest building in Russia, my short black hair and long black trench coat blowing in the breeze as I gazed out at the world bellow. It was dark and lifeless. The few people left on this world were either hiding, or elsewhere. This world had been my one great failure, the one time I had a chance to save a world and failed. I had just been discovering my abilities and my resposibility. When I first discovered the responsibility that I was to have, I denied it, and unlike most movies, I didn't decide I was the right one and save the world in the nick of time. When this started I had been a normal 16 year old boy, in one of the less interesting worlds. Countless ages have passed since then in some worlds, in others, merely minutes. It made my head hurt to think about it.
I looked up as a plane-more spaceship then plane, really-flew over. It's spotlight fell on me as soon as I vanished, letting my powers take over and take me to another world. Traveling between worlds wasn't dramatic, like you'd see in a movie. I merely closed my eyes in one world, and opened them in the other. I DID have to imagine the place I wanted to go, however, or else I could end up inside the ground, or the sky...which wouldn't really be a problem, considering I could fly.
