Corvo sat on the couch in the living room of an abandoned house they had spent the day in. He and his sister had always traveled by night, and slept during the day. It was easier to keep out of sight that way. He wasn't sure about how the new girl they had met the day before was used to doing it, but if she wanted their help, she would have to get used to it. He looked at his watch, even if it didn't really serve a use, then looked over at Calista. “Hey, Cal, it's time for your shot,” He said gently as he got up and went over to his backpack. He looked inside it and pulled out the small box that they kept Calista's shots in, then opened it. “Damnit,” He muttered, turning to Calista,”We're out. I guess we have to go get more tonight,” He sighed. He hoped she'd be fine without her shot until then.
He swung his backpack over his shoulder,”Cal, you grab what non-perishable food you can find,” He said, then went to find Yukiko to see if she was awake or not, and to tell her where they had to go and what they had to do. He wasn't completely sure whether or not he could trust her, so he generally kept a close eye on her. He hoped she wouldn't mess this up, but since she hadn't turned them over to the company yet, he figured she must be a least a little trust worthy.

Calista sat quietly on the couch, looking thoughtful. She really wanted a nice hot shower to clean up from all the escaping. Her hair was a tangled mess, her face was all grimy and dirty, all her clothes were a mess, and she just overall felt disgusting and dirty. Though, at this point, she was getting used to it, since she felt like it for so long. Typically, she was the type to take a shower every day, if she could, so this change took a while for her to get used to. There had been a few times she got injured on stuff too, while they had been escaping, but that was to be expected and it never was very bad. The worst part was not being able to get the dried blood off of her. The company, since they were in charge of everything, had all the water systems in the cities shut down. So there was literally no showers, and not even any water from the faucets. Getting actual drinkable water could be a challenge at times. Especially with the water being contaminated from the company dumping failed chemicals and such into the rivers and lakes, and as far as she was aware, they could of purposefully put sleeping drugs in the water to knock out any survivors.
When her brother said it was time for her shot, she nodded, and pulled her sleeve back so he could inject her with the shot. But when he said they were out, she pulled her sleeve back down and started to look very worried. Remembering what happened 4 years ago when she first discovered her sickness wasn't a good memory, and that was the main time she had any major issues. There had been minor issues, just because of the times she needed the shot approaching, like now, but nothing major since 4 years ago. Her parents had made sure to stock up before everything went to hell, but now their stocking up was out, and now they had to go and find new shots themselves. Which scared her, because she had a feeling that some of the hospitals were a dangerous place to be now, because the companies probably loved using them for their drug experiments. But not all of them. At least, she hoped not all of them.
Calista pushed herself to her foot, and nodded to her brother. 'Okay brother' She said. While he called her Cal, she just called him by his full name, or just brother. Typically she said brother. She swung her own backpack on, so she could carry the non-perishable food. When everything first went to hell, she couldn't carry that much weight with her backpack without feeling fatigued easy by the weight, but now that they've been doing it for a year, she seems to be much more fit and it doesn't bother her as much.
She went into the kitchen and looked through the pantry, grabbing some random canned food and other non-perishables. All the perishable foods, with the exception of a few, would be bad now. What really worried her was the idea of when they got to 2 to 3 years out here, when even the canned food would be going bad. They'd probably just have to get their immune systems up, which would probably be easy, to be able to consume slightly bad foods. But she figured they may need to get to scavenging in different ways, like in the forests. If they tried planting a field, it would likely get busted, or they would get busted. There was so many thoughts of what may or may not happen that just worried her all the time, and it was making her exhausted and worn down from all the emotional worries.
Ever since their parents were captured, and possibly killed, since they didn't really know, Calista was noticeably more down and depressed. Before, they tended to have at least some cheery moments here and there. But since their parents were captured, she just seemed to always be down and distant. Any time they would rest, she would literally just zone out and start getting watery-eyed. It's like part of her went with her parents when they were captured, and this was the remains of her: a distant, sad shell of her.
After getting a fair amount of food, in her backpack, and carrying out some for Corvo and their friend, Yukiko, to carry, she headed back to where her brother was. 'Ready. There's some for you and Yukiko to carry in the other room' She told him. She never really understood why Yukiko had a Japanese-sounding name, because she didn't look Japanese at all to her. She figured there was a logical reason for it, though, but never really felt like asking why. She rubbed her sleepless eyes. For the last year, she had slept like crap. Sure, there were the good days of sleep, but mostly she would have a very restless days sleep, constantly waking up at the slightest of sounds. And the last week, she really hadn't slept good at all. She was always flooded with nightmares of her parents being captured, and it just made it really hard to sleep. Made her afraid to sleep. Sure, nightmares were a common occurrence these days anyway, from everything she had seen happen. But her parents being captured just sent her over the edge. And she knew the more sleepy she got, the more likely she was to make some bad mistake that could cost her life, or her getting captured, because she was just too out of it to be able to function properly. The only thing she could think of doing was to let out a stressed sigh, and running her hand through her grimy hair in a nervous, stressed gesture, then closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

Yukiko was sleeping, but not a good happy sleep, one filled with nightmares. She recalled the time of her sister and mother getting abducted. She remembered vividly the person who her sister stabbed with a Naginata, and how despite the blood dripping from him, he grabbed the weapon and yanked it out of her hands. She suddenly awoke and cried out "Oneesan!" then realised where she was, and bowed to both of her acquaintances "Gomen nasai." then frowned at them slightly, because despite her fluent nature she found it hard to speak English right after she woke up, especially after a nightmare. She kinda stared at them for a moment before saying "Gomen nasai." again, this time apologizing not for crying out, but for not being able to rap her tongue around their language at the moment. She looked around and slowly picked up her Hachimaki and rapped it around her head. She then slowly took a small wooden board she had ripped out of the floor, and wrote some Kanji on it, then clapped twice and hung it up on the wall.
After hanging up her small board she looked at them and explained "A prayer to the Kami, for our good health." her words came out in a thick but understandable Japanese accent, which was clearly more noticeable in English then when she spoke in Japanese. She slowly put her stuff back in her backpack, armour, a single book she had managed to grab, a Katana, and her knife. She then slowly lifted the bag onto her shoulders, still clearly not adjusted to the labour required to lift her around 47-50 pound bag. She set it back down and then said "Corvo-San, thank you very much for not leaving while I slept. I was scared at first, I am glad that you are a good person after all." then looked at the younger sister and said "Calista-Kun do you think you might be able to carry my portion of the food, my bag is quite heavy already, with my armour. Unless you believe Corvo-Oniisan would like to wear it." she bowed to both of them again.

Corvo jumped slightly and looked slightly taken aback when Yukiko suddenly woke up and shouted, then he kind of just stared at her when she spoke Japanese. Clearly he didn't speak Japanese. He blinked slightly, then kind of seemed to ignore the second time she said it. "We're going to go raid the hospital. You can come or you can stay here," He said, hoping she would reply in English.
He found it kind of interesting how she sounded so Japanese, and yet she looked so American. He understood why though, figuring she grew up in Japan from a very young age. He watched her put her stuff back in her backpack, and vaguely wondered how she managed to fit the armor in there. He smiled at her very slightly,"I think the people that remain need to look out for each other," he replied to her thanking him. He looked kind of tired, like he hadn't really slept. He looked at his sister when she spoke, then at Yukiko,"I'll carry your portion of food, I don't think I'd do well in armor." He looked kind of like he might of thought she was a little weird when she bowed to them, but said nothing. He then went and filled his backpack full of the remaining food, thinking it was getting a little heavy. After he was done, he came back,"You ready to go?" He asked.

Calista just looked from Yukiko to her brother when she spoke Japanese, because she really had no idea what was being said. But she felt bad not understanding. She was tempted to say "We can't understand you", but decided against it, because she knew she spoke English before.....she just didn't right now for some reason. So, all she did really was watch Yukiko do what she was doing silently, and let her brother speak to her.
She nodded to what Yukiko said about a prayer to the Kami, even though she personally felt that if there was a God out there, he clearly enjoyed the suffering of money, to let one greedy corporation rule his entire creation like that, killing many of his own creation and capturing many others for experiments. She wasn't going to say that, though, she felt it was unnecessary and pointless. "The last thing you'd expect from my brother is for him to abandon you. If he's abandoning someone, it's not for a good reason and it would be a very tough decision" She said with a smile at her brother, which probably showed alone how much she loved her brother, her protector. He took such good care of her that she couldn't not love her brother. Sometimes she felt she didn't do enough in return for her brother, that all the burden was being pushed down on her brother, but she never voiced that feeling to her brother. 'I can carry half of it, Corvo' She said to her brother, giving him a sad look that, if he knew his sister well, which he probably did, meant she felt bad for him to have to carry all of it, so she was offering to help him. When her brother asked if they were ready, she did a simple nod, then swallowed nervously and took a deep breath to prepare herself to be all tense and dodging lights shining at them, space ships flying over, and so on.
