The Balacqua children's parents were just getting ready to leave for their day out on the town together, and their mother seemed to be being overly paranoid. They were both running around, making sure they got everything, looked their best, and so on, but the mother was most noticeably stressing out. She wasn't just stressing about making sure she got everything, but something else. That being her children. This was the first time she had really left the 2 alone for the duration of a day. Seeing as it was early in the morning, and they wouldn't be back until late, it would be all day. Sure, they had their kids be alone for a few hours before, like when they would get home before them from school and whatnot, but never for this long. And despite their ages, especially the brothers, the mother was being all paranoid about it.
As they started to head for the door, the mother turned back to her son, who was the closest to her. Their daughter was sitting in the living room, eavesdropping on the conversation. She knew her mother was being overly paranoid, so she wanted to hear what her mother was going to say to her brother. Because apparently she could be a brat if she wanted to be. She didn't make it very obvious that she was listening in, either, because it looked like she was just sitting and lounging on the couch, probably waiting for the parents to leave.
"Remember, you can call us if anything comes up, and we will leave immediately and come home" She said to her son, acting overly protective and worried. "The numbers on the refrigerator" She said, and she paused at the entrance of the door for a moment. "You certain you'll be okay? We've never left you alone like this before, and I don't want you to be too stressed out having the responsibility of taking care of your sister while we are gone" She said, apparently acting like her daughter was a 5-year old who needed to be watched all the time. Little did her mother know quite how much he would actually be taking care and protecting his sister soon. Without anybody noticing, Violet rolled her eyes.
After she got an answer from him, she gave her son a hug goodbye, then looked through the doorway in the direction of her daughter, giving her a wave, which she smiled back to her mother in response. Then, finally, she actually left and stopped worrying so much. She gave her son one last wave, and then the door probably shut, There was a likely possibility that it was her son shutting the door quickly before her mom decided to bring something else up that made her sound all paranoid. Which would probably be a good idea.
Shortly later, they drove off, and as soon as Violet heard the sound of the car driving away, she stood up and walked over to her brother. "Mom can be so silly sometimes" She said, shaking her head back and forth. She knew it was all done with good intentions, but she still couldn't help but have a little bit of a laugh at her mother sometimes. She smiled a mischievous grin at her brother, which by now her brother probably knew meant she was up to no good, and maybe he would jokingly think that maybe her mother was right, he should be worried about taking care of his sister alone. "Now it is time for me to make your life difficult" She joked, continuing grinning that mischievous grin of hers. However, she couldn't think of anything to do right now that would be mischievous, and instead addressed something else on her mind.
"Isn't your friend supposed to be coming over later? I thought I overheard you saying something about that" Violet said, thinking back to earlier in the day. She wasn't sure which friend of his it was, but she was almost certain he mentioned a friend was going to come over. She figured that since it was one of my brothers friends, they were probably a good person, but she couldn't be certain. She had seen some pretty weird people who were friends with good people, like some of her mom and dads friends that came over that just made her uncomfortable, for various different reasons. Either racist slurs, sexist slurs, or just some really odd stuff they spewed out. So she couldn't exactly be certain that all of her brothers friends would be people she wanted to hang out with, and as far as she knew, when they were over, they could bring out a side of her brother that was a side she didn't want to see. A side that her brother only let out with the right type of friends, and didn't let out around other friends, or typically his sister and his parents. She knew those type of friends, like her friends that were the one's she told all her secrets to, but she wouldn't dare tell to some of her other friends, or even her brother for that matter. Not that there wasn't the secrets she told her brother, though. She told more secrets to her brother then to her own parents.
