It is the year 2061 and new substance has been discovered on the mining planet Scyleon. When the planet discovered the substance, they figured it was some kind of liquid ore, but they discovered that it was much more interesting then that. It messed with their equipment, and made the hair on everyone's neck stand up, as if it was charged. So they ran tests on it, and after a half a year of research, they, for some reason, decided to test what would happen if you injected it into someone. And so, Subject Zero was created(Unintentional Mass Effect reference). They were not expecting the results. After nearly dying (Or dying and being revived) multiple times, Subject Zero showed signs of being able to create Ice from nothing. The scientists were slightly alarmed by this. They had expected it to boost strength, or something like that, not this. They suddenly regretted having Subject Zero be who he was, given his violent nature. They tried to contain him, but his powers had grown to strong, and thus, he escaped.
Their first thought was to bury any knowledge of the existence of the substance, but eventually Corporations won over, and they started selling it for ridiculously high prices. Not to mention the fact that it was hard to hide the fact that Subject Zero was going around killing people with ice created from nothing.
The process of getting these powers is very painful, and results are unpredictable and varied. Some people gain Ice powers, some get fire, ect. And the amount of power is varied in the amount of the substance injected, and the more you get, the more expensive it is. The process leaves glowing marks burned into the skin of the subject. These marks also vary in both color and intensity, as well as how much of the body they cover. The color is determined by what kind of abilities people acquire, while the intensity and coverage is determined by how much is injected.
People with these powers are called Magi.
Power types:
Ice: Subject Zero's ability. He's the only one currently known to have this, but that will likely change. It grants the ability to create ice from nothing, either shooting out of the subject's hands or by creating ice on surfaces. Varying levels of power include:
Master Power:(Subject Zero Only) Due to being the first subject and being injected with a dangerous amount of the substance, Subject Zero is slightly more powerful then any other of the Magi. Overall, he is just like the High Powered Ice Magi, but doesn't appear to wear out (Might if he went for long enough, he just doesn't have a reason to), and can shoot ice out of his hands at the pace of a machine gun.
High Power: The subject is able to create ice anytime anywhere. Such as, they can create large walls of ice or just structures of any shape. They can make any surface icy, and can shoot ice from their hands at a high rate. Subject gets worn out at a low pace.
Medium Power: The subject is able to create walls or structures of ice of limited size anywhere but in places that are really hot. They can make many surfaces icy as long as they're not to hot. They can shoot ice from their hands at a medium pace. Subjects wear out at a medium pace.
Low Power: The subject can create small (Like, hand-held) 'structures', and nowhere that is warm enough for ice to melt. They can create ice on cool surfaces, even if they are warm enough to melt normal ice. They shoot ice out of their hands at a low pace, and tire easily.
Fire: Grants the ability to create fire from nothing, and to cast fireballs. They can also heat up surfaces, making them the Ice Magi's weakness.
Power Levels:
High Power: The subject is able to cast long streams of fire from their hands, as well as large fireballs that make a small explosion on contact with anything solid. They can heat up any surface. They can heat up metals until they're red-hot. They wear out at a slow pace.
Medium power: They can cast long streams of fire for a short amount of time, and medium sized fireballs. They can heat up any surface but the very coldest. They wear out at a medium pace.
Low power: Low power subjects can cast short streams of fire for a medium amount of time, and small fireballs. They can heat up any surface that's not to cold, and wear out at a fast pace.
Electric: Grants the ability to cast electricity out of the subject's hands. They can overcharge electric equipment and stun people.
Power Levels:
High Power: The subject can shoot bolts of electricity that can jump between targets (With a slight 'cool down' until the next time they can cast this. It's not enough to kill them, but it can stun them. They can overcharge electric equipment in an area around them. They wear out at a medium-low pace. There's also a side affect that they can stun themselves if they try to hard for to long.
Medium Power: The subject can shoot electricity at a single target, normally stunning them. They can overcharge one piece of equipment at a time, for a fair distance. They wear out at a medium pace, and can only shoot bolts of electricity so often.
Low Power: They can send bolts of electricity at a decent pace at a single target, but they don't contain enough power to stun them, merely give them a slight zing. They can overcharge any equipment they can touch with their hands, as they need to be touching it for it to work. They wear out at a fast pace.
Acid: Acid Magi have the ability secrete a burning liquid from their skin, but it doesn't affect them. They can also create a toxic gas.
High Power: High powered Acid Magi can not only secrete Acid, but they can also shoot it out of their hand. This acid can burn through many things, but only burns for so long. They can spit it, too, but out of their hands is probably the nicer option. They can secrete a toxic gas out of their skin, as well, and if enough of it is inhaled, it can knock out anyone caught in it. They wear out at a low pace, but if they don't wear a mask, they can knock themselves out with the gas.
Medium Power: The subject can secrete Acid that is strong enough to give people nasty burns, but not outright kill them with it. They can secrete a toxic gas that can make people dizzy, and if they like, stand there taking deep breaths of it, they can get knocked out. They tire at a medium rate, and like Heavy Powered Acid Magi, they need to wear masks to avoid knocking themselves out with the gas.
Low Power: They can secrete acid that can be painful and give people minor burns. They can secrete a gas that can make people lightheaded and confused, but can never knock them out. They tire quickly, and also have to wear a mask, but they don't have to worry about passing out.
You can get lower then low power, but I figure that anyone we'll be RPing as will be one of those three.
[Marking-power-level differentiations]
Master power: (Subject Zero only) His markings glow bright and vivid, and cover his torso as well as his arms.
High Power: Their markings glow bright and vivid, and almost completely cover their arms and up the side of their neck.
Medium Power: Their markings glow slightly dimmer then a High Power Magi, and cover the outside part of their arms and thinly up the side of their neck.
Low Power: Their markings glow dimly, and cover just a thin part of their arm, and are nearly invisible on their necks.
[Marking Variations]
Ice: Ice Magi usually have almost-white blue markings that usually are in a frosty pattern.
Fire: Fire Magi usually have red or orange flame-like markings.
Electric: Electric Magi usually have deep blue markings in a lightening pattern.
The substance is sold to all sides of the war, and is very highly guarded so no one will come and take it without paying.
