Today Evanna, Erasmus, and Zoey were all joining the ever increasing peaceful protests at Solana Park in the center of the capitol city, Siam City. First it started out as a small protest against the government of Siam, being done at the park because that was the most open place for people to spread out to protest, but it quickly was gaining momentum. At first there was maybe 100 people gathered, but people started to take note of the protesters from social media websites, walking in the park, and so on, and because of it, there were probably a few thousand people peacefully protesting at the park now. So peacefully in fact that most of the people were just sitting around currently reading books, holding signs up, and so on. Nothing indicating the protesters meant any harm to anything or anyone. Peoples reasoning varied greatly for protesting. The average wages for citizens getting lower and lower, a ever collapsing school system, forced conscription into the military, increase in environmentally-dangerous practices like the large increase in the countries logging industry, to name only but a few examples of people protesting.
Evanna's reasoning for protesting was definitely related to the forced conscription into the military. Recently she found out that in the next few weeks she would be sent to a military training camp if she wanted to or not, and since she had little interest in joining the military at all, she wasn't all too happy about that and decided that she was going to join in the peaceful protests, seeing a good reason to join in now. She wasn't certain how much it would accomplish or not, but thought it was better then doing nothing. And just being here she could tell that there was generally a pretty big movement against the government arising, and it made her feel even more certain that she should be here for the protests that she could also hope would be game changing for the country as a whole if the government listened to them, and the protests got big enough to be payed attention to.
While some of the protesters may of looked serious about their protesting and/or grumpy, angry people, Evanna didn't give off that impression at all. Some of the protesters looked like they could be people that if things went downhill quickly for some reason, they might not be the most pleasant protesters. Evanna on the other hand looked like a rather happy teenaged girl protesting, looking rather happy for protesting against going into the military. Which was probably because she was generally a happy girl, and being at her first protest was an interesting experience for her. She was one of the protesters currently sitting on the grass reading a book. She didn't even have a sign, but she was hanging out near a random person who did have a sign protesting the forced conscription into the military. She also had her camera bag and cellphone with her, thinking about filming the protests and putting the video on YouTube. Depending how things go, she thought the camera could be very useful. Even her cellphone camera could be pretty useful to her as far as she was concerned, but she had little use for either at the moment, except maybe to call her boyfriend and family later. She thought about talking to some of her fellow protesters, but right now she wanted to finish more of her book.
Erasmus just arrived to the protests with his daughter by his side. They didn't quite seem as cheery as Evanna, but that was likely related to them having a kind of rough last few days. Zoey especially was having a hard time the last few days, and she was a little scared going to the protests so he had to convince her that everything will be okay. But she wasn't scared because she was afraid it would go bad in the sense of the government responding badly, but because she was afraid of the protesters themselves, because she knew some crazy people went to the protests. But her dad reassured her that the people like that were a minority and she had no need to worry too much. They reasoning for protesting was being kicked out of their home without much of a warning, thrown on the street with nowhere to go......all because the government wanted to build a new government building smack dab on their house. They didn't even bother paying them money to move, and just decided to kick them out. This didn't go over well with Erasmus, and Zoey was having problems with the whole being stuck on the street thing. She was adapting, but the whole change right now was making her down. It was making Erasmus down, too, because being kicked out of your house wasn't a pleasant thing by all means, but he could handle that whole thing better then Zoey could. He honestly thought that with the government doing thing like that, that maybe, just maybe there would be someone here that might cheer Zoey up, preferably someone near her own age that she could socialize with now that she was out of school. But of course the main reason for being here was to protest the government with everyone else for their own personal reasons.
For now, they just walked through the park, looking at how many people there was. Which he noticed was substantially larger then when he checked the park only a few days ago. He wandered around the park to find a good place to hang out and to get a perspective on who and what type of people were protesting, and what for. From what he could tell, it was all sorts, for many, many different reasons, and he could tell that this protest was pretty serious business with many varying issues people had with the government. He was really hoping the government would listen to their protests, and do something, but from what he knew of the government he doubted they would just change things because a few thousand people were protesting. He could only hope, though, and he knew all too well doing something was better then not doing anything and complaining about how crappy the system was and talking about how the government won't listen anyway.
