A fairly old-looking man had a sign out saying that he was hiring people for a big mission. That he was hiring people for a mission to go and find the device everyone was talking about lately. People that he was specifically choosing as the ones he thought would be the best for it. For any of the people who already knew this guy as the owner of this specific business that he runs, they would know he was a sweet, kind man. So the last thing you would expect from someone like him was wanting this thing for his own personal gains. He even advertises it specifically saying that the people he sends out are who he wants to find the device and keep it for themselves. Which was why he wanted to do his best to make sure he could trust the people he was choosing. Otherwise, it could go badly. And what they would do with it, he wasn't certain. Maybe they could get it up and going again for the good of the world, and since they're commanding it instead of someone from one of the rebel bases and governments, hopefully it wouldn't be used for someones own personal gain. Hopefully. His entire point in this was to try and get to it before anyone bad did, despite the fact he had little to no intel of where it was actually located.
Carrie was the first of the people going to arrive and sign up. She had been around town a lot, and she knew this man quite well from previous trips by him and talking to him. He had told her he was going to do this, too. And she told him that she would sign up at some point. When she arrived to sign up, she looked all perfectly geared up and ready to leave, though in all honesty, despite the fact she was signing up to this, she was scared about what might happen while she was out there. What she might do, what might happen to them...She wanted to help, she really did, but part of her was definitely afraid. Because he already knew her and knew her skills with a bow, he didn't even need to see her show off for him to accept her onto the team. Despite the fact this had been up for a few days now, she was the first one to sign up for the group. And now she was officially its first member.
"Thank you very much" She said, smiling brightly that he accepted her that easily. He nodded and smiled, and she decided to stay around for now to see who all might come up to try and join. She stepped off to the side and watched the people pass, and whoever else came up to sign up.
Aisha
Meanwhile, Aisha and her brother were walking down that exact street together. She seemed to be on the lookout for the place quite a bit. While she was at it, she was generally just enjoying looking around at San Francisco itself, since she had never seen a city quite like it before. She almost worried she'd be so distracted with the city she'd miss their destination completely. "This place is magnificent" She said happily to her brother, who she was holding the hand of. It always made her feel safer, especially when going through heavily populated areas with lots of people. While she was the more social one of the both of them, that didn't mean she didn't get uncomfortable when there were so many people around. Especially in this world, where creeps, murderers, and so on just walked the streets daily and could cause a lot of problems with no police to stop them, just other people who might kill them for their own safety, or crazy murderers murdering each other.
But then she got distracted from her concerns when she saw their destination. "Look brother" She said, her face lighting up in happiness when she spotted the man they were supposed to talk to. "We're here. Those men we overheard were right! There really is someone hiring people to go and retrieve that device to keep it out of the wrong hands" She said, and she started to walk over to the man, pulling her brother along behind her. "We can do something good with our skills, brother" She said happily to him.
"Well ain't you two just the cutest little things" The old man said politely to the new people arriving to sign up, giving them a bright smile. He thought they seemed a little young to be joining, but if they had the skills, he couldn't find it in him to deny them if they really wanted to join. Something about their mannerisms gave him the impression they were related, and really close at that. Based on their height being close to each other, he wondered if they were twins, but he couldn't be certain. The boy hid his face it seemed so he had a hard time telling how close their similarities were. Carrie seemed to think it was interesting that there were two kids who couldn't be any older then 12 that were trying to join up, but she didn't protest.
Aisha smiled at the man. He seemed really quite polite. Which made her trust this whole group get together even more. If the guy was an old grump that wanted it for himself, she would question him. But his sign said that he didn't even want the device for himself, and his personality made her doubt there was anything shady about this at all. "We would like to try and sign up" She said to him.
"Okay, but you gotta prove yourselves for me to think you are worthy of joining" The old man said, and Aisha gave a nod. "Right this way" He said, taking them back to an area that had a whole bunch of practicing dummies, targets, and so on for various different types of combat. When they arrived to said room, Aisha looked expectantly at her brother, wanting him to show his capabilities as a man for the team before she did, since he was better than she was by far.
Electra
Electra on the other hand had just arrived to San Francisco. Seeing the city and the ocean again for the first time in years was quite the sight for her. That was when she was up on the hills near San Francisco. Once she was actually IN the city she didn't see the ocean anymore. At first she thought getting in the city might be hard, but it wasn't at all difficult in the slightest. With everything she had gone through and done, she never trusted towns or cities like this. They could be ruled or or taken over by anyone. Gangs, stupid governments, whatever. But this one from what she could tell was fairly good, or at least they didn't openly show their problems. Right now she hadn't found the place to sign up for the mission. She didn't even know it existed yet, in fact. Her reasoning to be here was just because it was a stop on her long, long journey across the entire United States. If anything, she was here to explore. But when she finds the mission place, she would find herself wanting to sign up, and maybe she would feel like her life had a purpose again. That maybe, just maybe all this killing she had done and would continue to do would actually end in something good happening that she had actually helped in, instead of clinging desperately onto her last bit of hope and the anger of revenge.
